Dr Andrew Thompson

Dr. Andrew Thompson is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Youth Psychiatry in the public sector and in the private sector. He is also Professor of Youth Mental Health at the Centre of Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne. He completed his medical training at Oxford University and the University of London.He has 24 years of experience in psychiatry in both the UK and Australia and has been a consultant psychiatrist for 15 years. He is a fellow of both the UK and Australia College of Psychiatrists. He has worked previously in Perth and Melbourne and has an Australia wide role in services development for young people mental health. His recent experience is in youth psychiatry (aged 15-25) but has worked in adult psychiatry and also has an interest in sports psychiatry. Dr Thompson takes a personalised approach in assessing the needs of his patients and develops tailor-made treatment and management plans through assessments and consultations.
